Turn Directories Into Cash

by admin on November 5, 2008

A really easy method to create passive cash flow on the internet is by starting a web directory. A web directory is basically an index of other websites such as dmoz.org that are compiled into categories. You can start a web directory on any niche you can think of and profit from it for years to come.

Anyone can start a web directory and all it takes is a domain name, some hosting and a directory script. Directory scripts costs as little as $25 or can be created using simple html. Web directory scripts make starting and running a directory a lot simpler because they automate the process of accepting new link submissions as well as accepting payments.

One of the things that make directories profitable is site owners paying for link submissions. Webmasters who need one way links pointing back to their website are happy to pay to be listed on a directory because everyone with a website needs backlinks for SEO.

Paid submissions are only one of many ways you can monetize a web directory. You can monetize your directory the same way you monetize any other site ie. Google Adsense, affiliate programs, text link and banner advertising.

To ensure you generate the most income you can from your directory you need to market it online and build up its traffic. That means you need to build up your sites backlinks via article marketing, link exchanges, press release distribution or even text link advertising.

Or if you already have a website you can simply link to your web directory from it. If you already own a website or two then starting a web directory is a super easy way to create more cash flow from what you’ve already built. And if you start a directory on the same subject as your other site(s) you can create a valuable resource for your current visitors.

So for the price of a nice dinner out on the town you can have a domain name, web hosting and a directory script that will bring in passive income for years to come. Turning $50 into thousands is not that hard. It just takes knowing exactly what to do.

I’ve turned web directories into passive income generators over the last four years that have generated over $90,000 in profits for me. The hard part was learning how to do everything myself. Luckily you don’t have to go through the process of learning everything yourself because I explain it all in my new guide.

It is titled “Web Directory Profits” and it shows you my exact techniques on making money from web directories. To find out more simply search for “Web Directory Profits” or visit http://www.webdirectoryprofits.com and you’ll find it.

If you’ve never considered running a web directory or maybe you have then I urge you to check it out. It will slash the learning curve of doing everything right. If you already have a directory and you want to earn more from it then pick up a copy. There is a 90 day money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied.

eSyndicat

by admin on September 15, 2008

I have not personally used eSyndicat yet but it looks like a very robust directory script with an impressive demo. The features parallel those of Indexu’s but it does contain 12 free templates you can use compared to Indexu’s 5 or so as well as many plugins you can purchase to extend the functionality of your directory.

They do offer a free version of their software you can test out. Their unlimited domain license is one of the cheapest out there at $499.

PHPMyDirectory (PMD)

by admin on September 15, 2008

PHPmydirectory is a very robust directory script and has a lot of very attractive features. I’ve used this script on several sites. This script is set up to include detail pages for every listing and is mostly for listing businesses. Each detail page allows businesses to include their full details including address, phone #, URL, images, banners and products. It is by far the best script for running a business Yellow Pages type directory.

It produces static URLs and includes a great admin section. Some of the features it offers that aren’t found in other directory scripts include: [click to continue...]

PHP Link Directory - PHPLD

by admin on September 14, 2008

PHPLD as it is referred to is the easiest and cheapest directory script you can get. It currently costs $25 per license, $75 if you want it unbranded. It is simple to set up and has some nice advanced features making it very attractive if you want to set up a directory fast.

Using this directory script I was able to build a blog directory and later sell it for exactly $8,000.00 on eBay. I had invested only $25 in the script, $200 to have a database of blogs imported and $50 for the actual database. So I invested $275 into the site and in under a year I turned around and sold it for eight grand. That’s a ROI of 2,809%. [click to continue...]

Indexu

by admin on September 12, 2008

The directory script I am most familiar with is Indexu from nicecoder.com. Indexu has been around for a long time and luckily today Indexu is more robust than ever and produces lovely static URLs. All SEO’s know static URLs reign king over dynamic URL’s.

By static URL’s I mean:
yourdomain.com/page.html or yourdomain.com/cat/subcat/etc/ not
yourdomain.com/cat-8.php?=session9023498273kl2kd9 etc. It also allows you to include custom text
and html in every subcategory. This gives you more of an opportunity to include unique content on every page of your directory. [click to continue...]

Choosing A Directory Script

by admin on September 12, 2008

There are many different web directory scripts out there, both free and paid. Both have advantages and I will go over some of the most popular scripts that are out there, first free than paid.

Free Directory Scripts

Free directory scripts have one main advantage… they’re free! If you are on a limited budget then these are the way to go. You can get your feet wet before diving in and purchasing a paid directory script. There are disadvantages though to using free scripts. Usually free scripts aren’t that robust, are not supported, require you to link back to the script owner’s site and a lot of the time have bugs in them. Another thing you want to be aware of is that when you do use a free directory script you run the risk of having to stick with it even after your site makes money. It can be hard to migrate data later on if you decide you want to upgrade to something more robust. So be warned. How To Pick A Profitable Niche

by admin on September 11, 2008

Picking the right niche to start a directory under makes all the difference in the world when it comes to making money.

Of course many factors play a role in determining which niches are money makers and ones that aren’t.

If you haven’t started a directory yet and are looking for a good niche then this is what you need to do.

1. Make A List Of Your Passions

It’s easier to work on and stick with something if you enjoy it. If you pick a niche that you love then you will be more willing to put effort into it and will most likely be more successful in it. [click to continue...]

General or Niche Directories (Which is better?)

by admin on September 11, 2008

Before I get into what type of directory is better to build let me explain what each is.

A General directory is one that has no focus and covers a wide variety of topics. They contain categories for everything… from art dealers to online Casinos. General directories like this include dmoz.org, google.com/dirhp, botw.org as well as dir.yahoo.com.

A Niche directory is one that is focused on one topic. Instead of having a bunch of general categories they include categories under one main niche. So for example a directory for photographers would have categories for different styles of photography, locations photographers are in, specialized photographic services etc. The directory is focused solely on photographers and that is it, nothing more.
